The Louise Bender Roth Early Education Endowed Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Roth of Cape Girardeau made a $40,000 gift to establish the scholarship. The gift will be matched with an additional $10,000 through a university matching gift program.
The is part of the Honoring Tradition -- Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign. The campaign's goal is to raise $40 million.
The renewable scholarship will be awarded to an elementary education major at Southeast with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average. The College of Education Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.
Louise Bender Roth graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1937 with an education degree and was an elementary school teacher for 13 years at Washington School in Cape Girardeau.
