Christ Episcopal Church introduces Serenity Mass
The Serenity Mass will be held every Sunday at 6:15 p.m. in the foyer of Christ Episcopal Church, inside the red door at 101 N. Fountain St. The Serenity Mass was first conceived to appeal to people who began their journey of spiritual growth in a 12-step recovery program. For more information, call the Rev. Gospel singing scheduled at Villa Ridge church
Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill., will feature gospel singers at 7 p.m. Sept. 6. Singing will be The Gloryroad Travelers of Mounds, Ill., and Kathy and Darrel Hobbs of Cape Girardeau.
Missionaries to speak at First Pentecostal
Back to School and Promotion Sunday is next week at First Pentecostal Church of Cape, 3054 Lexington Ave. An all-church family meal will be served after the morning worship service. Missionaries Peter and Robyn Gration of Papua, New Guinea, will speak at 6 p.m.
Christian Ignition Series workshop begins
Christian Ignition Series will be offered for 12 weeks at Zion United Methodist Church, three miles west of Gordonville, at 9:15 a.m. Sundays beginning Sept. 7. Christian Ignition is a starting point for learning about the basic beliefs of the Christian faith. Those who are searching for more meaning in life are invited to come. The first discussion topic is titled "So Is This All There Is?"
'Financial Peace' series to begin Sunday
The Apostolic Promise Church, 361 Country Club Drive, will present the preview of Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University" at 5 p.m. Sunday. Financial Peace University is designed to teach people how to get out of debt, stay out of debt and build wealth. Participants will meet with a class each week to watch the video lesson and participate in discussion and accountability groups. The classes begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 and will last 13 weeks. Activities scheduled at First Baptist Church
A back-to-school potluck lunch will be Aug. 31 in the First Baptist Church Activities Center. Everyone is invited. The new sermon series for September is called "Discovering Your Shape (and Doing Something About It)." Wednesday night Bible study (Luke chapter 20) with Dr. Ron Winstead will be at 6:15 p.m. Socrates' Cafe is at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Grace Cafe, 818 Broadway. The Core Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at the church, Lexington Avenue and Cape Rock Drive. New pastors at Cornerstone Assembly of God
Cornerstone Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau has welcomed Jonathan and Lisa Hendren as its new pastors. They moved here from Springfield, Mo., have 28 years of pastoral experience and have been married 23 years. They have ministered in the U.S. and abroad. Jonathan is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Organization. He holds a bachelor's degree from Central Bible College in Springfield and is pursuing a master's degree in theology from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.
