I'd like to tell you a story,
of a sinner like you and me.
How he was in the pits of Hell,
and how Jesus set him free.
It was a dark, and dreary night,
when he awoke in his bed.
He was sick from drunkenness,
and there was awful pain in his head.
He cried out, "Somebody help me,"
but only to his despair.
For there was no one around,
to show h-im that they cared.
Oh, he had lots of friends,
as long as he bought them rounds.
But when he ran out of money,
there were no friends to be found.
He had looked here and there,
looking for someone who cared.
But he was looking in all the wrong places,
for that person to talk to and share.
He had done everything,
from smoke, to heavy drugs.
And even the many prostitutes,
could not fill the need for true love.
And now as he lay in his bed,
crying out for help, he is all alone.
Then he remembered a number, gave to him
by a man on the street, by his telephone.
The man had told him
to call anytime.
That he would always be home,
and that everything would be fine.
So he dialed the number
that the man gave to him.
And the man answered,
and the sinner said, "I need a friend."
The man came over right away,
and started talking to him.
Don't you know you are never alone,
because you have always had a friend?
He has knocked at your door lots of times,
but you never let him in.
His name is JESUS, and he loves you,
and he wants to be your friend to the end.
Confess that you are a sinner,
ask God to forgive you of your sins.
And JESUS will come into your life,
and fill you with his love,
and you'll have peace within.
