Student wins law award

Wilson D. Sikes of Morley, Missouri, was awarded the 2016 Milton F. Napier Scholarship Award by the The Lawyers Association of St. Louis. Sikes, a graduate of Oran High School and Southeast Missouri State University, will receive his doctorate in law from Saint Louis University School of Law this month. The Milton F. Napier Scholarship Award is presented each spring to a third-year law student from the law schools at Saint Louis University and Washington University who excels in trial advocacy. Each recipient earns a cash award in addition to the certificate.

Twelve students receive awards at music festival

Twelve students from Keyboards & Kindermusik Conservatory, a piano, keyboard and Kindermusik teaching studio in Cape Girardeau, recently earned Gold Cup awards from the National Federation of Junior Music Clubs.

The Junior Music Festival was held on Feb. 20. To receive a Gold Cup, students must compete a minimum of three years earning the top rating. A student can earn up to five Gold Cup awards. Awards were as follows: third Gold Cup recipient was Noah Branson; second Gold Cup recipients were Ashlynn Aranha, Jackson Gaeta, Emily Kirby and Timothy Kirby; and first Gold Cup recipients were Olivia Clover, Samuel Gaeta, Vita Galati, Michael Hooe, Julianna Kirby, Noelle Neely and Angelica Robles.
