Aaron Horrell has created art for 40 years. The 56-year-old Southeast Missouri native aims to share special moments he captures in nature with his photographs, along with techniques and tips on how to achieve success while heightening awareness of the beauty of nature among children and adults.
Horrell said his intention is to motivate others to appreciate nature and capture their own special images, and questions are welcome as well.
Horrell's work has been exhibited at local galleries, received with acclaim and awards. He is a member of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and the Cat Ranch Art Guild. His murals are displayed at Cape Girardeau schools and places in Chaffee. Horrell also does face painting at school fairs and other community events.
Horrell's serious nature photography began five years ago.
"I'm trying to be the eyes of people who don't have the opportunity to take advantage of going out and seeing this," he said.
Horrell's photos, tips and places to find animals will appear in a weekly feature called "Through the woods" in future Good Times sections.
