Former Cape Girardeau County auditor Weldon Macke has served his community and the people in it for several decades. He has served as Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years and has served on every committee on local church levels, served more than eight years on the General Conference Council of Finance and Administration and as county auditor for 34 years. He has served on the Cape Girardeau County Society for Crippled Children and Adults, and is a member of the Mended Hearts program at Southeast Hopsital, among other organizations. Macke recently received the Lieutenant Governor's Senior Service Award from Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder. The award is given to citizens who exemplify service and citizenship by giving back to their communities through volunteerism are worthy of special recognition. He was also honored by former president Ronald Reagan as an "Outstanding Republican Office Holder."
