Inez Statler, a member of Kage FCE Club since 1982, has received the State of Missouri "Heart of FCE" Award for 2011. The activities Inez has been a part of include Little Golden Books, Military Mail, Blankets for Autism, the Reading Program at Jefferson School and Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer. She applied for and received several grants, including Therapeutic Horsemanship, Golden Books for Cape County Public Health Clinic, Diabetic Children, Military Mail, Reading is Grand and Games for Parents Resource Center. She is serving as president of the Cape Girardeau County FCE Council. The award was presented Sept. 29 in Springfield, Mo.

Local receives Human Rights award
Maryann "Miki" Gudermuth was presented the 2011 Church Women United Human Rights Award at the Women United Human Rights' awareness luncheon Sept. 16 at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
