Cadet Neil Kanneberg, son of Keith and Chris Kanneberg of Cape Girardeau, completed seven weeks of cadet basic training at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Referred to as "Beast Barracks," this training is one of the most challenging events a cadet will encounter in the four years at the academy. The initial military training program includes instilling discipline, pride, confidence and a sense of duty to prepare for entry into the Corps of Cadets. Instruction also included first aid, mountaineering, hand grenades, rifle marksmanship and nuclear, biological and chemical training. Kanneberg is a Notre Dame Regional High School graduate. He plans to graduate from West Point in 2012 and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
