Orr is the son of Kim and Jeana Orr of Doniphan, Missouri, and is a 2017 graduate of Doniphan High School. Graduation announced

The University of Wisconsin at Madison recently announced its spring semester 2018 graduates.

Cheyenne Vaughn of Jackson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese, and graduated with distinction

Award announced

Nicole Sotak, a graduate of Jackson High School, earned the spring 2018 Dean's Award with Distinction at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses during the spring 2018 semester earn the Dean's Award with Distinction.

Local student accepted to prestigious arts academy

INTERLOCHEN, Mich. -- Clayton Bridgeman, 18, of Cape Girardeau has been accepted to and will attend Interlochen Arts Academy, the world's premier fine arts boarding high school, according to a recent news release. Clayton is the son of Jamie and Maria Bridgeman, and will study viola at the Academy. Previously, he was a student at Eagle Ridge Christian School.

Clayton has been a student of Alex Anne Troxel and a member of the Southeast Music Academy for the past five years and a violist in the Southeast Symphony Orchestra for the past two. He was selected as a substitute violist in the St. Louis Youth Symphony Orchestra for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

He is the grandson of David and Linda Parks of Jonesboro, Illinois, and Doug and Patsy Bridgeman of Anna, Illinois.

Interlochen Arts Academy attracts more than 500 young artists from 40 countries and all 50 states. Together, they study music, theatre, dance, visual arts, creative writing, comparative arts, and motion picture arts in a college-like setting. While producing more than 250 artistic presentations in the school year, Academy students also master rigorous college-preparatory academics that prepare them to take prominent roles in any professional endeavor.
