SCHOLARSHIPS

• Cara N. McElmurry of Cape Girardeau has received the President's Plus Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. A graduate of Central High School, McElmurry is the daughter of Herman and Regina McElmurry.
• Benjamin A. Martin of Cape Girardeau has been awarded the Governor's Scholarship at Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. He was homeschooled and is the son of Chuck and Jean Martin.
• Kent G. Deason of New Hamburg, Mo., has been awarded a Community College Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. A graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School and Three Rivers Community College, he is the son of Dorothy and Terry Deason.
• Zach K. Deneke of Whitewater has been awarded a Community College Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. A graduate of Jackson High School and Mineral Area College, he is the son of Larry and Diana Deneke.
• Megan L. Eaton of Scott City has been awarded a Missouri Leadership Award and a Missouri Assessment Program Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. A graduate of Scott City High School, she is the daughter of Mike and Elane Eaton.
• Chad S. Minson of Burfordville has been awarded a Community College Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. A graduate of Jackson High School and Shawnee Community College, he is the son of Stan and Vickie Minson.
• Jana R. Porch of Scott City has been awarded Missouri Leadership Award and a Missouri Assessment Program Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. A graduate of Scott City High School, she is the daughter of Tim and Sally Porch.
• Kacie Crites of Jackson graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University. A graduate of Jackson High School, she is the daughter of Alan and Dixie Crites.

Graduations, Honors

• Katie Domian, daughter of Joe and Donna Domian of Cape Girar­deau, graduated magna cum laude from Miami University of Ohio with a bachelor's degree in English literature and religion. She was selected as the top graduate for Arabic language studies and for the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She is now teaching English in Amman, Jordan.

Awards, achievements

• Jane Lohmann received the 2007 Wilhelmina C. Robertson Excellence in Science or Mathematics Teaching Award from the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Houston. Lohmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lohmann of Cape Gir­ar­deau, graduated from Notre Dame in 1970 and received degrees from the University of Missouri and Southeast Missouri State University.
