Several students from Southeast Missouri were awarded scholarships from the Truman State University Foundation for the 2016-2017 school year.
Cory Hogan of Jackson, a business administration major, received the Dean Earl and Edna Ludlow Business Scholarship in the amount of $1,000, as well as the L.L. Via Fund for Excellence in the amount of $2,000.
Andy Overmann of Cape Girardeau received the Robert Scott Marshall Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.
Gage Hahs of Cape Girardeau, a physics and mathematics double major, received the Dr. John S. Bartling Mathematics Scholarship in the amount of $500, as well as the Dr. Robert Peavler Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2,000.
The Cape Noon Optimist Club awarded local students, including Austin Ray, Emily Timpe and Sarah Johnson, the Steve Wright Memorial Scholarship. Wright was a longstanding member of the Cape Noon Optimist Club who loved to improve children's lives. The scholarships are awarded to students who carry on his legacy of compassion and generosity.
