Prom's around the corner and senioritis is setting in for Alexis Bogenpohl and her friends. In one final activity before they head off to different colleges, the Jackson seniors will model prom dresses in a charity event for March of Dimes, "Ball Gowns for Babies."
"We're going to have a whole bunch of fun," she said. "Definitely."
They're promoting a smarter way to shop for prom dresses, buying used gowns at a lower price.
"Once you find a dress that's perfect for you, then it doesn't even matter," Richa Sutaria said.
Event organizers will be collecting used prom dresses and selling them to benefit March of Dimes. All the profits will go to the charity to help prevent birth defects.
Used prom dresses can be donated at Montgomery Bank branches in Jackson and on Mount Auburn Road and on Broadway in Cape Girardeau.
The fashion show will be at noon April 5 in the Buckner Brewing Co. Riverview Room. Admission to the show is $5 and includes first pick of the dresses. The dress sale begins at 1 p.m.
