Illinois man graduates boot camp

Navy Seaman Jamie R. Tate, son of Angela M. Smith of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Jamie L. Tate of Mound City, Ill., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Tate completed a variety of training including classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. Tate is a 2008 graduate of Rocky Mount High School in North Carolina.
