Woman's Distance Festival to be held Saturday
The 17th annual Women's Distance Festival for all ages and fitness levels will be held Saturday at the Osage Community Centre, 1625 N. Kingshighway on the Cape LaCroix recreation trail. Distance events begin at 8 a.m. Events will include a one-mile walk/run, a 3.1 mile walk, and a 3.1- mile run.
New this year are the 5K Buddy Run and Buddy Walk events, which will combine ages and times of two participants who sign up as buddies.
The 12th Kids Fest events for ages 2 to 9 begins at 8:45 a.m., including a 40-foot Toddler Trot for those 2 and under already on their feet, a Mighty Mites 50-yard dash for 3- and 4-year olds, a 75-yard dash for Speedy Sprinters age 5 to 6, and a 100-yard dash for Radical Runners age 7 to 9.
The event supports Turning Point, a program for anyone diagnosed with breast cancer within the past year.
