Therapist to discuss the defiant child

Parents of children ages 2 through 7 who are coping with a strong-willed child are invited to a free program about "The Defiant Child," to be held July 27 at Southeast Missouri Hospital from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Harrison Room. Theresa Lumos, a children's and family therapist at Tender Hearts Child Therapy Center, will help participants learn proven strategies to deal with stubborn, strong-willed or defiant children. The program is designed not only to offer much-needed answers, but to offer parents support as well. For information or to register, call the Generations Center at 651-5825.

Foundation to hold golf tournament

The Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation will hold its annual Benefit Golf Tournament Friday at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. Tee-off times are 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., with lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. The registration fee includes greens fees, cart, lunch, snacks and beverages, a quality golf shirt, mulligan and skins and a "Southeast shot." Premier sponsor for the tournament is Cape Radiology Group. Corporate sponsors are The CBE Group Inc., Jerry and Ruth Lipps and Cardinal Health. Poker Walk, 8 a.m., Cape County Park Shelter No. 8. All ages welcome to participate in this free fitness activity.
