Briefly
A Healthier You is the theme for an upcoming health fair at West Park Mall. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and will offer interactive booths with healthy tips, information and screenings. Emily Stapleton, owner of Contours Express in Cape Girardeau -- the business sponsoring the fair -- created the fair to help residents lead healthier lives. There will be free spinal and hearing screenings, information on proper nutrition and exercise and Tae Kwan Do demonstrations in which children can participate. Health and fitness experts will also be on hand.
Cape Girardeau native Taylor Crowe has been chosen as the keynote speaker at the 15th annual Texas State Conference on Autism this week in Dallas. Taylor, 25, was diagnosed with severe autism as a preschooler. His presentation -- "The view from here: My life with autism" -- will discuss his growth and upbringing, therapy and other issues associated with autism.
Saint Francis Foundation recently announced that it is the regional recipient of the Missouri Foundation for Health Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Grant.
