Lions Club to hold pancake breakfast

The Patton Lions Club will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Patton Saddle Club on Hiaghway 51 in Patton, Missouri.

The menu will include pancakes, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, coffee, milk and orange juice.

Mardi Gras celebration at Magnolia Manor

Magnolia Manor will host a Mardi Gras celebration from noon to 4 p.m. today at 2700 Washington Ave. in Cairo, Illinois. The event will include authentic cuisine, desserts, champagne and live music. Red Cross blood donations this month

March is Red Cross Month, and there will be numerous opportunities to donate blood in the area.

Bell City: 1:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bell City High School, 25254 Walnut.

Cape Girardeau: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at The Auxiliary at SoutheastHEALTH, 1701 Lacey St.; 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the American Red Cross Center, 20 S. Mount Auburn Road; 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 7 and March 14 at the American Red Cross Center.

Chaffee: 1 to 6 p.m. March 6 at Chaffee High School, 517 W. Yoakum.

Jackson: 1 to 6 p.m. March 6 at the American Legion Hall, North High Street; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7 at Bank of Missouri, 2492 E. Main St.

Perryville: 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 13 at St. Vincent High School, 210 S. Waters; noon to 6 p.m. March 14 at Perry Park Center, 800 City Park Drive.

Fish fry at Scott City Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus Council 6420 will begin their weekly Lenten fish fry Friday at the hall, 28745 Highway 61 in Scott City. The dinners will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday during March and on April 7. The menu will include all-you-can-eat catfish, fried chicken, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies, potato wedges and drinks. The cost is $11 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 11 and free for children 6 and younger.

Dinner, auction to be held at Zalma Church

The Zalma General Baptist Church in Zalma, Missouri, will hold a dinner and silent auction Saturday.

The dinner, held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., will include chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, dessert and drink. The auction will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

SEABEE Ball planned for VFW Post 3838

Cape Girardeau VFW Post 3838 will host a formal SEABEE Ball on Saturday with a social hour beginning at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.

A pancake and sausage dinner will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sedgewickville United Methodist Church, 1 Main St., in Sedgewickville, Missouri. The event is all-you-can-eat with a free-will donation.

St. Paul Lutheran to hold breakfast

The St. Paul Lutheran Church mission team will hold a donation breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 5 in the fellowship hall, 223 W. Adams St. in Jackson. Eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice will be served. Funds raised will go toward the mission team's upcoming trip to Guatemala.

Men's Club dinner planned

The Hanover Lutheran Men's Club will hold a fried chicken and kettle beef dinner, beginning at 3:30 p.m. March 5 at the church, 2949 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau. The dinner also will include mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, bread, dessert and drink. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 11 and free for children 5 and younger.

Heart and health screenings available

Saint Francis Medical Center conducts free heart and health screenings from 7 to 10 a.m. every Wednesday for Cape Girardeau County residents age 60 and older.

The screenings are performed in the Saint Martha Conference room in the Health and Wellness Center and include cholesterol, triglycerides, cardiac risk ratio, glucose and blood pressure. Results from the screening will be sent to the patient's primary care doctor. No appointments necessary.

Immanuel Lutheran to hold fish fry

Immanuel Lutheran Church will hold a fish fry and chicken strips dinner at 3:30 p.m. March 12 at the church, 496 Highway F in Jackson. The menu also will include slaw, potato salad, dessert and more. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.

St. Joseph Parish to host dinner

A chicken, dumpling and sausage dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 12 at St. Joseph Parish, 138 St. Joseph Lane in Apple Creek. The all-you-can-eat buffet also includes dressing, homemade pie and bread. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children and free for children 5 and younger.

Free lung cancer screening set

Saint Francis Medical Center will provide free lung cancer screenings to adults ages 50 to 74 who are heavy smokers, former smokers or otherwise at risk from noon to 3:30 p.m. March 16 at its Womancare clinic, 211 St. Francis Drive in Cape Girardeau. Cape Shrine Club to host scramble at Bent Creek

Heartland Home and Garden Show to be held

The 2017 Heartland Home and Garden Show will be held March 17 through 19 at the Show Me Center, 1333 N. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau. Show hours will be 3 to 8 p.m. March 17, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 19. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.
