The Melvin J. Van de Ven, CPA, CVA Endowed Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Melvin Van de Ven of Cape Girardeau and Mike Van de Ven of Plano, Texas, have given $10,000 to establish the scholarship. Their gifts will be matched with an additional $10,000 through a university program, Honoring Tradition -- Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign.
The renewable scholarship will be awarded to an accounting student with a minimum 2.5 grade-point average, with preference to students in Bollinger or Cape Girardeau counties. The Department of Accounting will select the recipient.
Melvin J. Van de Ven is a 1964 accounting graduate of Southeast. His practice has been continuous since graduation. Most recently he has been the managing partner of Van de Ven LLC Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors in Cape Girardeau.
