Garden Club donates to Saint Francis Hospital Foundation

The Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, Inc., donated $700 to the Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation. The donation will be used for seven mammograms for women who would be unable to afford the screenings. Garden Club members from other areas in the state have contributed to the donation.

Walmart Foundation donates to Food bank

The Southeast Missouri Food Bank has received a donation from Walmart Foundation's Associate Choice Program to acquire food to support programs and services for hungry Southeast Missourians. Walmart donated $20,000 to the Southeast Missouri Food Bank equaling 140,000 meals. More than 170 not-for-profit hunger relief agencies in 16 counties in Southeast Missouri benefit from the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.

US Bank donated $1,300 to the Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation. The money will go towars the Great Ideas Teaching Grants Program. It puts money directly into projects designed by classroom teachers, helping educators take ideas for innovative teaching strategies and make them a reality. Student Santas receive $3,400 donation

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State Area recently awarded Student Santas $3,400. Student Santas is a not-for-profit organization that collects donated toys and money to give presents to families/kids that other wise would have little Christmas. So far Student Santas has helped approximately 10,000 kids in Southeast Missouri. Funds raised for new bingo equipment for Veterans Home

A group of dedicated individuals has worked for two years to raise the money needed to purchase new bingo equipment for the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. Representatives of the group recently gathered at the home to draw the winner of an antique tractor raffle, and present the funds raised. Pictured, left to right are veteran Bill Koch, Lori Malvitz and Brad Reynolds of the Jackson Elks; Randy Eggimann, who spearheaded the fundraising efforts; Teddy Eggimann; Joe Brice, Jackson Elks; and Jodie Rouse, of the Girl Scouts. In addition to the raffle, funds were also raised by the Falen Heroes Poker Run. Kevin Kieffer was the winner of the tractor raffle.
