The East Perry County Lions Club will host its annual chicken dinner from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Trinity Lutheran School gymnasium in Altenburg, Missouri. The menu will included fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, homemade bread, slaw and desserts. A freewill donation will be accepted, and carryouts will be available. Proceeds will fund Lions Club projects.
Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville will host a kettle beef and chicken and dumplings supper from 3:30 to 7 p.m. today at the church, two miles south of Gordonville on Highway 25. The cost of the family-style meal is $11 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 through 12. Carryouts will be available.

The Rev. John Loum will speak at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 on the topic "Christians Approach to Muslims/ISIS Movement in the Middle East" at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Loum is director of the Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis.

Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown, Missouri, will hold a picnic Sept. 12 in the grove across from the church, which is at the intersection of Route C and Route P in Perry County. A washer tournament will take place at 4 p.m., and Ear Candy will provide music. The menu includes pork steaks, fried fish, hamburgers and more. Donations are sought for an event to raise funds for the family of Doris Kincade, who was diagnosed with lung cancer.
