Church to provide free items

Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville has scheduled a giveaway of used clothing, household goods and other items from 8:30 to noon Sept. 20. During that time a free pancake and sausage meal will be served.

Goods will include clothing, coats, toys, kitchen and household items, baby items, furniture, books and more.

The church is at 3652 State Highway Z in Gordonville.

Crites reunion set

Crites reunion for family and friends of Andrew and Dora Bollinger Crites will be at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Post Oak Church, on Bollinger County Road 378 near Patton, Missouri.

A pot luck lunch will begin at 1 p.m.

Fish Fry at Scott City church

The Scott City First Assembly of God will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:40 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, 312 Dearborn St. in Scott City.

In addition to fish, the menu includes potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and coffee and tea.

Cost is $8.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 6 to 11; there is no charge for children ages 5 and younger. Carryouts are available for $8.50.

Scott City church hosts men's breakfast

The Scott City First Assembly of God will host a free all-you-can eat men's breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 20.

The meal includes sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and more.

Church announces neighborhood picnic

First Baptist Church will host a free neighborhood picnic at 12:30 p.m. at the church, 1289 Lexington Ave. in Cape Girardeau.

Activities will include music by the group Blend, lunch and snacks, children's activities, inflatables, kickball and more.

Pet adoption event in Cape Sept. 20

Cape Girardeau Petco, 266 Siemers Drive, will hosting a pet adoption event from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 20.

Included in the event will be more than 50 pets in need of homes.

Participating will be adoption groups and other animal-related organizations including Caruthersville Humane Society, Sikeston Humane Society, Safe Harbor, SEMO Humane Society, Greyhounds of America and Scott County K-9 SAR.

Refreshments and children activities will be available.

Dogs welcome to swim Sept. 21

Dogs will be welcome to swim at Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center in Cape Girardeau during Doggy Swim Day, 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 21.

Admission is $5 per dog. People are admitted free with a paid dog admission. Proceeds will benefit the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation.

Dogs must be on a leash to enter Cape Splash, must be vaccinated, and must be closely supervised at all times by their owners. Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave.
