Meals with Friends menu announced

The Salvation Army's Meals with Friends takes place at noon. The menu for Sept. 14 though 18 is as follows:

  • Monday: Sloppy joe, green beans and dessert
  • Tuesday: Baked chicken, rolls, cheesy egg noodles, corn and dessert
  • Wednesday: Hot dog and chili, corn and dessert
  • Thursday: Turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, rolls and dessert
  • Friday: Leftovers

The menu for Sept. 21 through 25 is as follows:

  • Monday: Spaghetti, green beans, bread and dessert
  • Tuesday: Shepherd's pie, rolls and dessert
  • Wednesday: Turkey and dumplings, corn, bread and dessert
  • Thursday: Baked fish, macaroni and cheese, bread and dessert
  • Friday: Leftovers

Delta senior citizens to meet

Delta senior citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Delta Community Building. September is membership-campaign month. All members are encouraged to invite a guest who would be a potential new member. The program for the meeting will be presented by a representative from SADI -- SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence. Musical entertainment will be provided by "ELVIS." Chronic disease self-management workshop set

Southeast Missouri's Regional Arthritis Center will host a six-week workshop designed to help patients learn to self-manage chronic diseases. The free program is designed to build confidence in a patient's ability to manage health while maintaining an active life. The program is open to area residents. Classes, to be held at Saint Francis Medical Center in the Health and Wellness Center, will meet Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon from Sept. 14 through Oct. 19. Tobacco cessation sessions planned

Several free, one-hour classes are scheduled Sept. 23 to help individuals learn about options to stop tobacco use. Times are as follows: HealthPoint Fitness in Jackson, 410 W. Main St., 10 to 11 a.m.; SoutheastHEALTH of Stoddard County, 1200 N. Talent Showcase plans Broadway-themed show

Heartland Talent Showcase will host a Broadway-themed performance from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 at Maple United Methodist Church, 2441 Jean Ann Drive in Cape Girardeau. Admission is $15 per person, and all ages are welcome at the event, which will include games and refreshments. Children are encouraged to dress as a Broadway character. SoutheastHEALTH Auxiliary schedules shoe sale

The SoutheastHEALTH Auxiliary will hold a shoe sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 in Southeast Hospital meeting room 106. The sale, presented by Shoe Roads Productions, features men's and women's shoes including Klogs, Dansko, Alegria, seasonal shoes and hand-painted shoes.

Run-Ride for Ragan Biathlon set Sept. 26

A run and ride will kick off at 8 a.m. Sept. 26 at Southeast Cancer Center and will include a one-mile honor/memory walk and 5K and 10K runs. Run-Ride for Ragan, first held in 2012, is held in honor of the late Ragan Ward Neilson, a Cape Girardeau native and daughter of Dr. Robert and Barb Ward. She died of breast cancer in 2007. Funds raised will help aid in the fight against breast cancer through early detection and will benefit the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation's Cancer Patient Experience Fund, which provides resources for cancer patients and those who cannot afford preventive screening. Cathedral to host event for men Sept. 24

The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Annunciation will host Catholic Man Night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 24. Adult Catholic men are invited for an evening that includes adoration, confession, discussion and a meal. Church to host vehicle, craft show

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 223 W. Adams St. in Jackson, will host a mission fundraiser featuring a car, truck, motorcycle and tractor show, a craft fair, entertainment, food and children's games from 1 to 6 p.m. Sept. 27 at the church.

Craft beer fest scheduled Oct. 3

The Community Counseling Center Foundation will hold its fourth annual Craft Beer Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 3 at Arena Park's First State Community Bank Pavilion. Attendees will receive a souvenir pilsner glass for sampling more than 70 varieties of beer. General admission tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the gate. Food, provided by Port Cape, may be purchased. A limited number of VIP tickets, $50, will include early entry, souvenir sampling stein, additional beer offerings and food at no additional charge. Tickets may be purchased at the center, 402 S. Silver Springs Road, Cape Girardeau; all Kidd's locations; Dirt Cheap; P-Mac Music; John Huber Home Brew Supply; Minglewood Brewery; Broadway Biergarten; and Primo Vino. 'Little German Church' homecoming set

The 38th annual homecoming of the Trinity Methodist Church and Cemetery Association -- also know as "The Little German Church" -- will be from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 3 on the church grounds, on Route N three miles west of Delta, Missouri. Crader family reunion planned for Oct. 3
