Southeast Missourians can learn about Medicare parts A, B, C and D at a Medicare "boot camp" organized by the SEMO Area Agency on Aging. The boot camp will help people becoming eligible for Medicare or those who have questions about how it works. The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. On Aug. 27, the American Cancer Society and Saint Francis Medical Center will present the annual American Cancer Society gala. Entertainment will be provided by The Intention. There will be live and silent auctions, dancing, casino gaming, food and the opportunity to honor those who have battled cancer. The Missouri Department of Conservation Discover Hunting event in September will focus on "Bowhunting 101." Bowhunters of all levels will interact with experts from the United Bowhunters of Missouri, On Target Christian Archers and the department from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10, at the Maintz Wildlife Area Archery Range. Participants should bring bows and field arrows with practice tips, but bows will be provided if needed. Anyone under 15 must attend with an adult. To register, call 290-5218. Lunch will be provided. LeBounce Inflatable Play Centre will host Boomerang at LeBounce, a fundraiser for Melaina's Magical Playland. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 30 and will donate proceeds to the fully accessible playground to be built in Cape County Park. It includes a discounted entry fee of $6 per child or free admittance for Bounce Buddies.
