The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri will be host its 2 Feet, 4 Paws, One Cause Charity Run on Aug. 30.
The event will include four- and eight-mile runs and a one-mile walk, with start and finish at the Osage Centre. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. with the run to start at 8 a.m.
Cost is $30 for 8-mile run, $20 for 4-mile run and $15 for the walk.
The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri annually provides shelter and care for more than 3,500 homeless animals.

Museum hosts extensive tool exhibit
The Lutheran Heritage Center and Museum in Altenburg, Missouri, is hosting an extensive collection of tools now through Sept. 25.
The L&M Tool Collection of Lyndon and Margaret Moore of Bloomfield, Missouri, is one of the premiere American tool collections in the country, according to a news release from the museum. The exhibit includes tools manufactured in Missouri, rare tools, tools with broad public appeal and tools used in the early settlement of Missouri. Included are rare regional hardware store photographs and historic hardware store exhibit cases. 
The museum, at 75 Church St., is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

St. Joseph Church to host dinner
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City will host its annual fall dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at St. Joseph School gymnasium.
The the buffet-style dinner includes kettle beef, chicken and dumplings, chicken and dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, dessert and tea and coffee. The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 through 12; those six years old and younger eat free. Carry-outs will be available, and there will be a country store and bakery shop throughout the event.

Disc golf tourney fundraiser set
A disc golf tournament to benefit the Dominic Hooper Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held Saturday at Scott City Park.
Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Horseshoe Pavilion with a fee of $30 per person; participants should bring discs. Preregistration ends Monday, and participation is limited to 144 people. Registration forms are available at The Bank of Missouri in Scott City or Scott City city hall.

Need for blood said to be urgent
The American Red Cross continues to have an urgent need for donors of all blood types. Donors with types O negative, B negative and A negative blood are especially needed.
