The annual picnic at the Whitewater Presbyterian Church in Bollinger County will be Saturday. The church is celebrating its 180th year. The homestyle buffet serving begins at 3:30 p.m. and includes kettle beef, chicken and dumplings, fried chicken and sides. Cost is $8 for adults, $3 for 12 and younger and free for children younger than 6. There will be live music, silent auction, crafts, turtle races at 7:30 p.m., quilt raffle, children's games, ice cream, hamburgers and more. Directions: From Interstate 55, exit 117 go to Route KK, go west on Route KK for 11.5 miles, turn right on County Road 256 and go one mile to the church. Whitewater Presbyterian Church was established on June 24, 1832, and has had continuous services since that date.

Weight Management Center to discuss programs

The Southeast Weight Management Center will hold a free session about its weight-loss programs. The session will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at HealthPoint in Cape Girardeau. The Weight Management Center offers both surgical and nonsurgical weight-loss options. The center has a team of physicians, nurses, dietitians, health educators and fitness trainers, led by bariatric surgeon Ryan A. LeGrand, MD. For more information or to register, call 573-986-4406.

'Kitty Christmas in July' at Safe Harbor

Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary celebrates its seventh year anniversary July 25. To celebrate this anniversary it will have two adoption days at the Safe Harbor Thrift Store from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It will be celebrating "Kitty Christmas in July," where cats from the sanctuary will be available for adoption at a reduced fee.
