"Between the Stacks: A Book Discussion Group" will meet for the first time at 2 p.m. tomorrow, April 4, at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark St. in Cape Girardeau. The group will meet every first Monday of the month from 2 to 3 p.m. The club will use the first meeting to discuss which books to read in the coming months.

NPR Arts Desk Reporter Neda Ulaby will be the keynote speaker for the event. The breakfast will kick off KRCU's spring pledge drive and is free and open to the public.
Aging Matters will host Medicare Boot Camps from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Cottages at Capetown, 2857 Cape LaCroix Road in Cape Girardeau; from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Bollinger County University of Missouri Extension Office, 302 Union St. in Marble Hill, Missouri; and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at Saint Francis Medical Center's Fitness Plus, 150 S. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau. During the free boot camps, the Medicare outreach consultants will help attendees better understand Medicare eligibility and enrollment, Medicare A, B, C and D, Medigap supplement choices, benefits and other related issues.
"Don't Worry, Retire Happy," a guide to straightforward retirement planning, will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at the Jackson Civic Center, 381 E. Deerwood in Jackson. Keynote speaker Tom Hegna will help attendees learn how to create a trouble-free strategy for retirement with a solid foundation. The event is free, and dinner and refreshments will be provided.
