Cape Girardeau's Texas Roadhouse is having a dinner fundraiser to raise money for the Hope for Haiti organization from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Texas Roadhouse. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of all sales to purchase soccer balls for Hope for Haiti.
Hanover Lutheran Church is having a spaghetti dinner and trivia night at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the multipurpose building at 2949 Perryville Road. The meal will include spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread, tea and lemonade. Trivia will start at 7 p.m. Cost is $15 per person. People can reserve your table for eight or just a couple seats by emailing sandybostic@hotmail.com or calling 651-4046. All proceeds go the the American Cancer Society. The night will be hosted by Sassy Soldiers Relay for Life Team.
Old St. Vincent's is having a trip to The Hill in St. Louis on April 12. The trip is $72 per person and will include a ravioli demonstration, visits to Italian markets, a historic overview of the neighborhood at St. Ambrose Church and more. The Council on Academic Accreditation will visit the Department of Communication Disorders at Southeast Missouri State University on April 18 and 19. The CAA will review the master's program in speech-language pathology. A consumer meeting will be at 4 p.m. April 18 at Rose Theatre in Grauel Building, and the public is invited to meet the team and comment on the program.
Carl Pease Jr. has been fighting the battle with cancer since his diagnosis in October. A benefit for him will be from 5 to 11 p.m. May 21 at the Cape Girardeau Eagles Club. All proceeds will be donated to Pease to help with his growing medical expenses. A dinner of smoked pork steaks, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and rolls will be available for $10 a plate (tickets at the door). There will be a silent auction from 5 to 8 p.m., 50/50 drawings, raffles and more. Women are invited to learn outdoor skills at the Discover Nature through MDC workshop June 3 through 5 at the Windemere Conference Center in Roach, Mo. The workshop is for women 18 years and older and women ages 14 to 17 if they are accompanied by a woman 18 or older. Courses at the workshop include archery, basic hunting, canoeing, Dutch oven/outdoor cooking, an introduction to firearms, camping, fishing fundamentals, fly tying, map/compass/GPS reading and shotgun shooting. Participants are responsible for making room and meal reservations directly with Windemere by calling 573-346-5200 or 800-346-2214. The workshop is free but a $20 deposit is required at the time of registration. The registration deadline is May 13.
