Lutheran Family and Children's Services (LFCS) will host its annual Kentucky Derby Party on May 4 at the new Jackson Civic Center, according to a news release. Doors will open at 5 p.m. The dinner will be catered by Smokehouse 61 and will be served at 6:30 p.m. The evening's entertainment will kick off with the Run for the Horse Race at 7:30 p.m. It will be followed by live music provided by Silver Fox. Separate left-turn lanes are now complete on both sides of Deerwood Drive at its intersection with North High Street (Highway 61 North) in Jackson, according to a recent city news release.
The modification includes re-striping both approaches and installing left turn bays and arrows, the release stated, and "will increase the capacity, efficiency, and operation of the intersection."
Drivers are urged to use extreme caution as motorists get adjusted to the new configuration.

All meals are served from noon to 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 701 Good Hope St. in Cape Girardeau.
