Crossroads to host Blood: Water Mission

Crossroads Church in Jackson is hosting Mike Hamilton of Blood: Water Mission on March 10. Blood: Water Mission is a not-for-profit grassroots organization that empowers communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa. Hamilton will speak about the organization's work to provide clean water and sanitation to communities in Africa and give partnership information. Soles4Souls to hold memorial walk

Soles4Souls, a charity that recycles shoes for people in need, is hosting a memorial walk starting at 9 a.m. Friday at the River Campus. The registration cost is free with a donation of gently worn shoes or $25 for adults, $18 for children 6 to 14 years old or $7 for children 5 and under. The purpose of the walk is to collect shoes for those in need, raise awareness for Soles4Souls and honor Heath Bain, who passed away while working for the organization. Jackson Park Day set for April 27

Jackson Park Day is scheduled for 8 a.m. April 27 at shelter No. 1 on Parkview Street in the main City Park. All participants will be offered a T-shirt and lunch will be served at 11 a.m. at no charge. This event is an opportunity for the community to help clean and beautify the park. Advance church group to hold dinner and auction

The Advance United Methodist Women will be hosting a silent and live auction dinner at 4 p.m. March 23 at Advance Grade School cafeteria, located at 33790 Highway 91, Advance, Mo. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 and older. Chicken and dumplings, ham, green beans, dressing, coleslaw, dessert and drink will be served. The auction begins a 7 p.m.

Kelly High School reunion set for May 1

Church of Morley hosts opening

More than 100 people attended the Church of Morley opening Feb. 23. The Church at Morley is a nondenominational church that emphasizes a full-gospel message, congregational participation, enthusiastic music and worship and a strong reliance on the Bible as its authority and guide. Worship services are 10 a.m. Sundays and 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

Perryville Pirate Athletic Club to host trivia night

The Perryville Pirate Athletic Club trivia night begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the Perryville High School gym. Parks and Rec to start new tennis classes

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is hosting tennis classes for children ages 6 through 10 at the Arena Park tennis courts beginning at 5:30 p.m. March 14. Classes will be on Thursday evenings through April 4. Register by March 8. Classes are $20 for Cape Girardeau residents and $25 for nonresidents. Tennis skills and equipment will be tailored to the child's size and age so they can quickly begin developing their skills and agility. For more information, call 339-6340.

New swimming classes starting this month

Enrollment has begun for Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department swim classes for March and April. Classes are for ages 6 months through adult. Many class levels and sections are available and will address everything from water basics through some lifeguarding skills. Class fees for children under 14 are $30 for Cape Girardeau residents and $35 for nonresidents. Those over age 14 are $35 for residents and $40 for nonresidents.
