The Girl Scout Family Fun 5K Run/Walk will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Arena Park Pavilion No. 3, 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau. This year's run/walk features a one-mile fun run for younger family members, plus games and activities for all ages. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
Registration is $25 per adult and $20 for children 12 and younger. Online registration will close at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, and paper registrations will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31. Registrations also will be accepted in person at Arena Park Pavilion No. 3 the day of the run from 3 to 5 p.m.

Lynwood Baptist Church will host Tom and Rhonda Hufty, a couple who will lead a marriage, family and parenting conference called "Blindspots: 12 Cries Every Parent Needs to Hear," from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, at the church, 2935 Lynwood Hills Drive in Cape Girardeau. Parents are invited to bring their children to the event. An interactive children's experience called "Stop and Go" will be hosted at the same time and place for children between kindergarten and sixth grade. Childcare also will be provided for children 5 and younger. The event is free of charge. Registration is required for preschool child care and the "Stop and Go" children's experience and is requested for the "Blindspots" parenting event. The Empowered to Connect Conference: Live Simulcast will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, at La Croix Church, 3102 Lexington Ave. in Cape Girardeau. The event will cost $10 per person or $15 for a couple, and lunch will be available for $7.50 per day, or attendees can bring their own. The conference is meant for those considering adoption, adoptive and foster parents, ministry leaders and professionals, to help them connect with children and be able to help them heal and grow in God. A trivia night fundraiser will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the New McKendree United Methodist Church South Campus, 1770 S. Hope St. in Jackson. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and concessions will be available for purchase. The event will cost $10 per person, and there will be intermission games and entertainment. Prizes will be awarded, and the event will benefit Boy Scout Troop No. 11. Per the Boy Scouts of America policy, no alcohol will be permitted. The third annual Denza Zenobia Hat Luncheon will be held at noon Saturday, April 9, at the Masonic Lodge, 2307 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. The keynote speaker will be Rev. Claudine E. Murphy, pastor of St. Luke's Church in Elmwood Park, Missouri. Admission to the event will be $5 and will include lunch and dessert. Attendees must reserve spots on or before April 7. Young Life of Southeast Missouri will host a Murder Mystery Masquerade at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at The Concourse, 429 N. Broadview St. in Cape Girardeau. The 11th annual Mother Earth Wholistic Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the VFW Post 3838, 1049 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. The event is free and open to the community, but donations will be accepted at the door for the Cape County Relay for Life.
