Scott City church hosts 'Souper' Sunday bash

The Scott City First Family and Youth Worship Center is holding a "Souper" Game Sunday Bash at 5 p.m. today at the Scott City First Family and Youth Worship Center. Admission is free but the worship center is taking donations of one canned good per person to be donated to the Scott City Food Pantry. The event is open to everyone and will include watching the game, eating snacks, games and fellowship.

Evening Optimists sponsor youth bowling league

The Cape Evening Optimist Club will sponsor a youth bowling league at 6 p.m. today at West Park Lanes. Ages are 5 to 11 and 12 to 18. Registration fee is $10 and includes a T-shirt. Bowling is free every week.

Group counseling sessions offered at SEMO-NASV

The Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence will be holding weekly group counseling sessions at 5 p.m. Tuesdays at the SEMO-NASV office. The group is for women ages 18 and older and will focus on providing support to survivors of sexual abuse and will present weekly discussion topics and educational materials. University Choral Union begins spring rehearsals

The Southeast Missouri State University Choral Union will hold spring rehearsals from 7 to 8:50 p.m. Tuesdays at the Cultural Arts Center at the River Campus. The Choral Union is a community-based choral ensemble open to all singers in the region. No audition is required and no fees are charged, but university students are expected to enroll for credit. The 2010-2011 concert season concludes May 3 when the Choral Union, University Choir and Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra perform John Rutter's "Requiem." Make Valentine's Day treats for feathered friends

The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will hold a program to make valentines for birds from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the nature center. The program will include making treats to give to birds. Pastel landscape workshop held at Crisp Museum

Kelly Hughes will present a landscape in pastel painting workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the River Campus. The workshop will be in the Crisp Museum. Participants will learn a painterly approach with soft pastel chalk to capture colorful light and create distance using perspective, form and values. Registration is required.
