"The Art of Brick" exhibit will be on display through Feb. 20 at the Crisp Museum. The exhibition of more than 30 works, created from 2002 to 2007, are made of close to 1 million colorful LEGO pieces. The Stoddard County Ambulance District will be conducting its 25th annual "Home for the Holidays" project on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Ambulance transports will be available for nursing home patients in Stoddard County who are unable to travel except by ambulance. Transports will be made from 8 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m. Patients will only be transported to a residence within Stoddard County. There will be no charge to the patient or family for this service. Patients will be allowed to stay as long as they wish on their home visit, whether that is just for a few hours or over night. The third annual New Year's Eve Gala will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Plaza Conference Center in Cape Girardeau. There will be an appetizer buffet of shrimp, oysters, mushrooms and a fully stocked cash bar. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Chateaubriand prime rib and lobster headline the buffet with flaming baked Alaska for dessert. The Jerry Ford Orchestra will perform during the dinner. A dance with music from Mid-Life Crisis begins at 9. Costs are $39 for the dinner from 6 to 9 p.m., $29 for the dance or $65 for both. Tickets will be available at the door or by reservation. The St. Louis Iron Mountain Railway in Jackson will bring in the New Year with a murder mystery event beginning at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31. The event will include a meal, mystery, train ride and midnight fireworks. Reservations are required and tickets are $50. For more information, call 243-1688.
