Christmas at the Zoo at Lazy L Safari Park

Healthy Weigh orientations

The Healthy Weigh orientations will be at the Saint Francis Medical Center's Health and Wellness Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday and Dec. 9, 16 and 30 and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Dec. 12, 19 and 26. Special Needs Christmas Party

The Cape Girardeau Eagles Club 3775 will be hosting its annual "Special Needs Christmas Party" from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 8. This free party is for people in the community and the surrounding area who are mentally or physically challenged. Anyone with physical or mental disabilities is eligible to attend with a caregiver accompanying them.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be there and all participants can have a picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be offered along with craft activities. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to have breakfast with Santa Claus at the Osage Centre from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 14. The cost is $5 for an adult and child and $3 each additional child. AAA Screenings

AAA Screenings will be given at the Heart Hospital at Saint Francis Medical Center from 7 to 11 a.m. Dec. 14. Jingle Bell Run and Walk

The 2013 Jingle Bell Run and Walk benefiting the Arthritis Foundation will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 14 starting and finishing at Fitness Plus, 150 S. Mount Auburn Road. The event will include a 5K run, a one-mile walk and a Tot Trot. Adult participants may register now or the day of the race beginning at 7:45 a.m. All 5K and one-mile participants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt, gloves and jingles for their shoelaces.
