Nominations sought for preservation award
Old Town Cape's Design Committee is seeking nominations for the annual John Boardman Excellence in Rehabilitation Award for a commercial rehabilitation and the Judith Ann Crow Residential Historic Rehabilitation Award. Projects must be within the 130-square-block district known as Old Town Cape from Water Street to West End Boulevard and from Highway 74 to North Street in downtown Cape Girardeau. Ongoing food drive
Sigma Tau Delta, an English honors fraternity at Southeast Missouri State University, will hold a canned food drive to benefit the community this Thanksgiving. The last pickup is Nov. 25. Drop-off locations are at Outback Steak House, West Park Lanes, Cape Girardeau Public Library, Pagoda Gardens, Jimmi's Restaurant and Bar, Elements Salon and Day Spa, Under the Sun Tanning Salon, Mollie's Cafe and Bar, Royal N'Orleans Bistro, Buckner Brewing Co., CP McGinty Jewelers.
Write Santa letters and benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation
Macy's will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (up to $1 million) for every letter to Santa dropped off at its stores, beginning today. Look for special mailboxes throughout the store. After counting each letter, Macy's will take them to the post office to mail.
