The Cape Girardeau County chapter of the American Heart Association will hold a Heart Walk fundraiser from 8 to 11 a.m. Feb. 12 in West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau. The Start! Heart Walk takes place throughout the country at about 400 locations. The activity focuses on walking as an important part of a heart-healthy lifestyle, while benefiting the American Heart Association. All revenue generated from the event fights cardiovascular diseases and stroke, which are America's No. 1 and No. 3 leading causes of death.
The Men's Club of St. Joseph Church in Apple Creek, Mo., will have a breakfast and bake sale from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 13 in the St. Joseph Church hall. Sausage, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, homemade coffeecake and beverage will be served. Price for adults is $6, $3 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children younger than 5.
Zalma General Baptist Church will be holding its fifth annual Special Needs Dinner/Silent Auction from 3:30 to 7 p.m. March 5 in the Zalma General Baptist Church gym in Zalma, Mo. Chili, soup, hot dogs, desserts and drinks will be served. Price for adults will be $6, $4 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children younger than 5.
