The Knights of Columbus, 28745 U.S. 61, Scott City, will host a euchre tournament Saturday. Doors open at 6 p.m., and play will start at 7 p.m. No outside food or drink will be allowed in.
Cape's Genealogical Society to meet
The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center in Jackson. The program, "A Yankee in Cape Girardeau: The Civil War Career of Captain Henry Ribble," will be given by Robert Weeks, a business college instructor at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Salvation Army serving hot meals
The Salvation Army will host Meals with Friends at 701 Good Hope, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Meals include ham/potatoes, shepherd's pie, spaghetti, baked chicken, sloppy joes and hot dogs. All are invited.
Cape library events scheduled
* The Monday Night Book Club meets at 7 p.m. Monday to discuss books members have been reading. This is a way to find out what books others are enjoying. Participants may also bring a book to trade. The event is free and open to the public.
* Local author Sharon Hopkins talks about her Cape Girardeau-based book "Killerwatt" in the Oscar Hirsch Room at 7 p.m. Tuesday. She will sign copies of her book. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library Foundation. Proceeds from the sale of books will go toward Friends Foundation projects.
* The class "Buying and Selling on eBay" will be in the library's computer lab from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The class is free and open to the public. Registration is requested by Wednesday.
