A benefit supper for Saxony Lutheran High School, UCLS elementary school, Immanuel Lutheran elementary school and the Altenburg and Cape Zone LLL Scholarship Fund will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, 57 Church St. in Altenburg, Missouri. Admission will consist of a freewill offering.

Meeting to be held at Masonic Lodge

The regular meeting of Excelsior Lodge in Jackson will be held on Sept. 12 at the Masonic Lodge, 204 S. High St. in Jackson. It will be Past Masters Night, with a meal starting at 6 p.m. All past masters and guests are invited. There also will be a 50-year presentation for Jim Sander during the evening. Delta Senior Citizens to meet

The Delta Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Delta Community Center, 211 E. State St. in Delta. September is Senior Appreciation Day and Membership Campaign Month. All members are encouraged to invite a guest who would be a potential new member. The program for the meeting will be presented by Linda Sanders of the AARP Speakers Bureau, on "Staying Sharp." Gospel Singing Convention planned for Malden

The 86th annual MO/Mid-South Gospel Singing Convention will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17, at the Malden Community Center, 607 N. Douglas St. in Malden, Missouri. Announcements will begin at 4:45 p.m. each day. Masters of ceremonies for the event will include Brother Gene Peacock from Scott City; Wendell Johnson from St. Mary, Missouri; Chris Deddens from Love and Compassion Radio in Carmel, Indiana; and Marsha Sue Mitchell, known as "The Pink Preacher." Friday night's lineup will include The Krepps Sisters, Ta McCollough, Cindy Keeley, Lynette Jenkins, Suzanne & the Hannah Maes, Heartland Quartet, The Richmonds, Bronc Adams, Wendell Johnson, Sixty West, Gloryland Quartet, Heart to Heart, Martin Goode Trio, In His Name, Jennifer Krepps, Christi Mynatt, Won By Grace and Gary Sloan. Saturday's lineup will include Chelsea McCollom, Conover Kids and Paul, Liberty Bells, Sacred Call, Danny Norman, Gloryroad Travelers, Reborn, Marvin & Karen Lawless, Final Journey Quartet, The Stoffels, Joyful Noise, Pure Harmony, Marsha Sue Mitchell, Belinda Clark, Ta McCollough and Harold Condray. The convention is free and open to the public, and will include door prizes, a silent auction, photo ops and an opportunity to talk to the musical artists. Living Proof simulcast to be held

A Living Proof simulcast will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Lynwood Baptist Church, 2935 Lynwood Hills Drive in Cape Girardeau. The simulcast will feature Beth Moore and worship with Travis Cottrell. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and tickets cost $10 each. River Tales Classic car show scheduled

The 39th annual River Tales Classic car show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, in downtown Cape Girardeau. A Cape Cruise In will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, with a special event in Capaha Park, at the corner of Broadway and West End Boulevard in Cape Girardeau. Those wishing to participate in the car show will be able to register for $15 from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday downtown. The free event in the park will include oldies tunes, door prizes, complimentary barbecue, chips and beverages. Proceeds from the car show will help support Toy Box, the Safe House for Women and other charitable organizations. For more information, call (573) 587-6575.

Mental Health First Aid training set

The University of Missouri Extension Center will host a Mental Health First Aid training from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22 and 29 at the center, 684 W. Jackson Trail in Jackson. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack meal. The training is free and includes a workbook and a certificate of attendance. Continuing education units from the Missouri Institute of Mental Health will be available for an additional $15 upon completion of the training. Instructors will be Mary Gosche and Mary Engram, human development specialists with the MU Extension. Nolan Weber 5K to be held

The third annual Nolan Weber Believers 5K/Fun Run/Walk, 1-mile course and Kids Color Dash will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, behind Jackson Junior High School, 210 N. West Lane in Jackson. The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. and the Kids Color Dash will start at 10:30 a.m. The event will include bouncy houses, door prizes and more. Heels to Heal 5K for Haiti planned

The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau will host its fifth annual Heels to Heal 5K for Haiti at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Arena Park, 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau. The event will include a 5K and a 1-Mile Kids Fun Run. Registration will be from 7 to 7:45 a.m. the day of the race, and awards will be presented after the race. Early packet pickup will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Missouri Running Co. in Cape Girardeau. Registration forms are available at capezonta.org and caperoadrunners.org. Harvest festival to be held in Patton

Reagans Chapel United Methodist Church will host a harvest festival beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the church, County Road 902 in Patton, Missouri. The festival will include an all-you-can-eat dinner of kettle beef, fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, potato salad, corn, green beans, slaw, homemade bread and desserts. Admission to the event will cost $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 to 10; and will be free for children 5 and younger. An auction will begin at 7 p.m. and will include handmade quilts, craft items, baked goods and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
