The SEMO Iris Society will sponsor an iris sale and auction open to the public at noon today, Aug. 7, at the University of Missouri Extension Center, 684 Jackson Trail in Jackson. Club members will provide a wide variety of iris rhizomes for sale on the "dollar table." These rhizomes include divisions from nationally known companies as well as unique hybrids from local hybridizers. A job fair for Rhodes 101 Stops and the Scott City Imo's Pizza franchise to be located on Nash Road in Scott City will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Rhodes 101 Stops corporate office, 1620 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. The new site will include a dine-in restaurant, a carryout order fulfillment center and a grab-and-go personal-size pizza kiosk in its adjacent convenience store. The Imo's Pizza franchise is expected to open in late August after remodeling projects are completed. An Imo's Pizza franchise also is opening next to Rhodes' Lake Drive convenience store in Perryville, Missouri. A Perryville job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Perry Park Center Gymnasium, 800 City Park Lane in Perryville. Walk-ins are welcome, but will be subject to wait behind prescheduled interviews.
The Chaffee, Missouri, German Days will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, and at noon Saturday, Aug. 13, at 800 S. Main St. in Chaffee. A queen contest will begin at 6 p.m. Friday. Bingo also will be held Friday night, along with a free dance with music provided by Excalibur Sound System from 8 p.m. to midnight. A washer and cornhole tournament will be held Saturday. Bratwurst, hamburgers and fried chicken will be offered, along with a beer garden.
