Blood drives scheduled

A blood drive will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at ConnectionPoint Church, 1506 S. Farmington Road in Jackson.

A blood drive will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Bank of Missouri, 315 Crites Ave. in Scott City.

A blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Missouri National Guard building, 2626 Independence St. in Cape Girardeau.

A blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Lowe's Home Improvement, 3440 Lowes Drive in Cape Girardeau.

Horseback riding day camp offered

Rolling Hills Farm and Equine LLC will host a horseback riding day camp from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the farm, 386 Taiga Lane in Cape Girardeau. The camps will cost $50 per day and participants must be 8 years old or older. Participants will learn about safety, horse grooming, tacking, saddling, riding, feeding, maintenance, health care and competitive riding. Annual church dinner planned

Sedgewickville United Methodist Church will hold its annual dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. The all-you-can-eat meal includes kettle-cooked beef, chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, fruit salad, cake and drinks. Music will be provided by the Caney Fork Band. The meal is $9 for children ages 12 and older; $4 for children younger than 12; and free for children younger than 5.

Back to School Carnival scheduled

First General Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau will host a free Back to School Carnival on from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, for families of children entering kindergarten to sixth grade. Children will be able to play games for prizes and school supplies. They also can play in a bounce house and enjoy refreshments at the church at 1812 Cape La Croix Road in Cape Girardeau. Family reunion to be held

The 94th annual Criddle-Stroder-Davenport family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson. Doors open at 11 a.m. There will be a covered dish luncheon. All friends and family are invited to attend. For more information, call Donna at (573) 243-8880.

Fundraiser 5K to be held

A fundraiser 5K race for Jordyn Conn, who was diagnosed last year with Alexander disease, a rare genetic mutation that affects the nervous system, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Jackson City Park, near the baseball fields on North Union Street across from the Dollar General in Jackson. Registration will be from 7 to 8 a.m., and raffle winners will be announced at 8 a.m. the day of the race. The registration fee will be $25 for children and adults older than 11 years old, and free for children 10 years and younger.
