Meals with Friends will be served at the Salvation Army Nov. 21 through 25. Menus are as follows:

Monday: Beef stew with rice and dessert.

Tuesday: Tuna salad sandwiches, veggies and dessert.

Wednesday: Deli sandwiches, sack lunch, chips and ramen.

Thursday: Thanksgiving meal from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Friday: No meal.

Christmas tree exhibit open

The 12th annual Christmas tree exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Jan. 15 at the Lutheran Heritage Center, 75 Church St. in Altenburg, Missouri. More than 50 decorated trees have been revamped and there are new themed trees and German Christmas collectibles. Featured trees include a "Down on the Farm" tree, Scherenschnitte (paper cutting) tree, "Oh, Holy Night" tree, trees with historic ornaments, a Delftware tree and more. A Christmas gift shop also will be open. The display will be closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Admission is free, and bus tours are welcome. Craft fair planned at Arena Building

The River Valley Craft Club will hold its annual craft fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Arena Building and 4H Exhibit Hall, 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau.

Thanksgiving meal to be held

Cape Church of the Nazarene will host a worship service at 10 a.m. and a community meal from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the church, 2601 Independence St. in Cape Girardeau. The meal will be free and all are invited to attend.

Church to host 'Empower Hour'

First Assembly of God will host Tim (TK) Klund for "The Empower Hour" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the church, 312 Dearborn St. in Scott City. The free event will offer attendees the opportunity to become inspired by a powerful positive message of overcoming and becoming successful in life. Klund is an inspirational speaker and director of the PX3 Foundation, which sponsors combat veterans with solutions that allow them to naturally recover and improve physical health without invasive surgery, ongoing treatments or medications.

Glenn House to have Christmas event

Christmas is coming to the Glenn House. Tours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. (unless otherwise listed) Nov. 25 through 27 and every Saturday and Sunday in December at the Glenn House, 325 S. Spanish St. in Cape Girardeau. The Carriage House will be decorated to the theme and Christmas cookies and coffee or cider will be served for guests' enjoyment. Advance purchase tickets are available at the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau. The cost in advance is $4 for adults and $2 for children 12 and younger; the cost at the door is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and younger.

Knights of Columbus breakfast set

The Knights of Columbus in Scott City will host a sausage breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at the hall, 28745 Highway 61 in Scott City. The menu will include scrambled eggs, link sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, coffee and milk. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12 years old and free for children 5 and younger. Orders will be taken for sausage at $3 a pound. Call Gary at (573) 576-6451 to order. There also will be a collection for new unopened/unwrapped toys to help the Marine Corps League with the Toys for Tots drive.

Parade of Lights planned

The annual Parade of Lights will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, along Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau. Attendees are encouraged to bring hot chocolate and a warm blanket to watch the lit-up floats travel from Capaha Park down to Main Street. The parade will begin with the Toy Box Mile Run. Astronaut Scott Kelly to visit Southeast

NASA astronaut Captain Scott Kelly will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Show Me Center, 1333 N. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau. Kelly will reflect on the choices and life events that paved his path for his career and his one-of-a-kind experience with a year in space. Christmas open house to be held

The Downtown Christmas Open House will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in downtown Cape Girardeau. Attendees will be able to listen to carolers, visit local shops, experience seasonal specialties and enter to win a downtown shopping spree.
