Trunk-or-treat to be held

Calvary United Pentecostal Church will host a free trunk-or-treat event from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the church, 581 Broadridge Drive in Jackson. The event will include hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, drinks and candy.

Halloween costume parade planned

The Cape Girardeau Senior Center will host a Halloween costume parade at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the senior center, 921 N. Clark St. in Cape Girardeau. Prizes will be awarded. For more information, call (573) 335-1352.

Trick-or-treat at the mall set

A trick-or-treat event will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at West Park Mall, 3049 William St. in Cape Girardeau. Families will be able to visit participating retailers for special treats in a fun environment. All children (up to age 12) must be in costume and accompanied by an adult. All are discouraged from wearing masks.

VFW to host Halloween Trunk 'R' Treat event

The VFW Post 3838 will host a Trunk "R" Treat event from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the post, 1049 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Saint Francis to host free screenings

To celebrate Veterans Day, Saint Francis Medical Center will host two free heart and health screenings for veterans from 7 to 10 a.m. Nov. 2 and 16 in the Health and Wellness Center conference rooms at Fitness Plus, 150 S. Heritage Association to host trivia night

The Jackson Heritage Association will host a trivia night at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Elks Lodge 639, 639 Elks Lane in Cape Girardeau. The evening will include 10 rounds of 10 questions, a 50/50 raffle opportunity and more. The cost is $10 per person or $80 for a team. Ladies Auxiliary to host marketplace and cafe

The Knights of Columbus 5898 Ladies Auxiliary will host its fifth annual marketplace and cafe from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Highway N in Leopold, Missouri. Canned food drive to be held

A canned food drive will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Knights of Columbus Hall -- Scott City, 28745 Highway 61 in Scott City. Community members are encouraged to donate canned goods and enjoy free hot dogs and sodas in the lower level meeting hall.

Veterans Honor Service set

The 17th annual Veterans Honor Service will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at First Pentecostal Church, 3054 Lexington Ave. in Cape Girardeau. The service will consist of several components, including music by the FPC Praise Team and soloist Craig Mitchell, speeches, tributes and patriotic displays. There will be honored guests from several participating military service support groups, including the SAR, DAR, VFW, American Legion, DAV and the Patriot Guard Riders. There will be a tribute to the branches of service by trumpeter Larry Herron (Army), a flag line by the Patriot Guard Riders, an antique military vehicle display by the SEMO Military Vehicles Group and an M.I.A. Tribute and Flag Ceremony presented by American Legion Post 63. Larry H. Ferrell, assistant U.S attorney for the eastern district of Missouri, is the speaker for this year's service. St. Joseph Parish of Apple Creek will host a fall festival and dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the church, 138 St. Joseph Lane in Apple Creek, Missouri. The menu will include pork sausage and backbone, sauerkraut, chicken and dumplings, all the trimmings and homemade pie. Carry-outs will be available.
