The Downtown Merchants Group of Cape Girardeau will present another Tailgate Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, in downtown Cape Girardeau. More than 100 vendors will have booths set up in various parking lots downtown, and many local businesses, restaurants and merchants will open their doors for the special event. The World War II LST Memorial 325 will visit Cape Girardeau and be available for tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow, Oct. 3, along the Mississippi Riverfront at the intersections of Themis and Water streets in Cape Girardeau. Attendees are invited to take a tour and walk the decks of the ship. More than 10,000 LST ships were constructed during World War II, and the LST-325 is the only remaining one in operation.
The Jackson Knights of Columbus will host euchre tournaments the first Sunday of every month (except for Jan. 8, which is a second Sunday) starting Oct. 2. Signups on the day of the event will be from noon to 1 p.m., and play will begin at 1 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own partner. Each event will have a $10 entry fee, which includes snacks and prizes.

A Youth Mental Health First Aid workshop will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Southeast Missouri State University Center Heritage Room, 388 Henderson Ave. in Cape Girardeau. Anyone is welcome to take the course, but it is recommended for adults who work with children between the ages of 12 and 18, including teachers, coaches, faith community leaders and social workers. Community members are invited to take a tour of Southeast Missouri State University's new innovation laboratory for mass media students, the Rust Center for Media, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the center, 325 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Rust, an American entrepreneur who built a small weekly newspaper in Cape Girardeau into a network of newspapers, digital sites and radio stations in nine sates. The annual Uptown Jackson Oktoberfest will be held in Uptown Jackson from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, along High Street in Jackson. The 2016 Dexter Fall Fest will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, in historic downtown Dexter, Missouri, along One Mile Road and Market Street. Saxon Lutheran Memorial Fall Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at 296 Saxon Memorial Drive in Frohna, Missouri. The festival celebrates farm life in the 1800s at the original farmstead site of the Bergt family in Frohna. Crafts and period demonstrations are among the highlights.
