1. It's spring. It's a sure sign of spring when all the office pools get going and people are glued to the games rooting for their favorite college teams.

2. Wichita State University. The Shockers, who didn't play until Friday, shocked the world last year with their trip to the Final Four last year and they're a sound basketball squad, relying on a team concept rather than stars for their wins. Unfortunately -- and this is going to make me sound like a whiny University of Kansas fan, which I'm not -- they were robbed last year when they played Louisville, and this year their bracket is stacked in a way that they probably won't make it again.

3. Watching the regional teams to see if they can wend their way through the tournament titans.

4. Harvard? That should be interesting. I don't think I've ever heard of Harvard making it to the NCAA Tournament. My theory usually is the smarter the school, the worse their sports are. There are some exceptions, but they're rare.

5. Cinderella stories. Everybody loves a good underdog story where a lesser-known team wins the hearts of hoops fans everywhere by coming out of nowhere and beating the big teams. Teams like Gonzaga, Valparaiso and Butler are just a few that have made the tournament worth watching over the years.
