1. Turkey. I like ham, too. Still, you can't beat a well-cooked turkey on Thanksgiving Day. And the day after. Turkey sandwiches. Turkey casseroles. The list goes on. 2. Pink stuff. We have a traditional side in my family (though it's not Thanksgiving specific). Pink stuff, or as you might know it: cottage cheese, strawberry Jell-O, whipped cream, Mandarin oranges and pineapple. You don't know what you're missing if you haven't tried this stuff...

1. Turkey. I like ham, too. Still, you can't beat a well-cooked turkey on Thanksgiving Day. And the day after. Turkey sandwiches. Turkey casseroles. The list goes on.

2. Pink stuff. We have a traditional side in my family (though it's not Thanksgiving specific). Pink stuff, or as you might know it: cottage cheese, strawberry Jell-O, whipped cream, Mandarin oranges and pineapple. You don't know what you're missing if you haven't tried this stuff.

3. Mashed potatoes. It's not easy peeling potato after potato, but there's no substitute for the real deal with cream and butter.

4. Cranberry salad. Much like the aforementioned pink stuff, this side dish is made for leftovers. Add the cranberry, Mandarin oranges, pineapple and crushed pecans. There's something festive about cranberry salad.

5. Pumpkin pie. There are plenty of desserts to choose from during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but a traditional pumpkin pie (also with whipped cream) is standard -- and, oh, so good.
