The home at 2609 Saddleridge is a stately and elegant residence perched atop a hill which gives it a grand view.

This two-story home has more than 3,500 square feet of living space. Brick steps lead to the elegant entrance -- a white doorway with leaded and beveled glass in the door, sidelights and an elliptical window above. Creative use of windows give the home a classic touch.

Once in the foyer, you see the formal living room. A crystal chandelier hangs in the center of the dining room, and three large windows in a bay area give the room volumes of natural light.

The formal living room merges easily with a less formal family room. It is centered by an attractive gas-log fireplace complete with oak mantle. French doors lead from the family room to a comfortably-sized outdoors deck.

Nearby is the kitchen, which features a dining area housed in a bay with four large windows and a patio door leading to the deck. All appliances are white, including the side-by-side refrigerator with in-door drink and ice dispenser. The appliances blend with the white cabinetry, which are highlighted with brass and porcelain pulls and a green marble-look countertop. Two of the cabinets have panels of glass doors. The smooth-top range is built into the cabinetry, giving the kitchen clean lines. A double porcelain sink has a large window above looking to the back yard. A built-in desk area gives the kitchen a message and computer area that can serve as a family hub.

Just off the kitchen is a formal dining room, which also has the grape-clusters lighting fixture. Floor-to-ceiling windows give the room increased drama and plenty of natural light.

A main-level laundry room has handsome cabinetry like that in the kitchen. A large, deep sink for hand washables is a plus. Situated nearby are a coat closet and pantry, as well as an exit to the three-car garage.

Even with its elegance, this home has some practical features. One is a central vacuuming system. Another is an intercom that connects much of the house.

The four bedrooms also have dramatic features. A set of double doors leads to the master bedroom suite, which includes plenty of room for a sitting area as well as large bedroom furniture. Two large walk-in closets offer plenty of space for clothing. Another bedroom also has interesting architectural features because of its location in a bay area.

A finished, walk-out basement features some rooms that are large and well-suited for family entertainment. Also downstairs is another bathroom. A large storage room with shelving gives plenty of space for seasonal storage.

This home is in the Alma Schrader School District.
