SCHOLARSHIPS

* Jared M. Mueller of Cape Girardeau received a President's Plus Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2009-2010 academic year.

HONORS & ACHIEVEMENTS

* Kelley Kasten of Jackson received the Dean's Award for service at Webster University in St. Louis. She was also named to the fall dean's list.

* Richard Todd McAnelly of Oran, Mo., was selected for the 2009 Missouri Scholars 100 program, which honors the top academic students in the state.

* Joshua Sander of Cape Girardeau Junior High School placed sixth at the state Geography Bee at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

* Samartha Shrestha and Riley Knight of Cape Girardeau Central Middle School qualified for the state Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics competition at Missouri State University in Springfield. The students were part of the Math Olympiad team, which competed in the regional contest April 4 at Southeast Missouri State University.
