Yan Venter to speak today at Rock of Cape

South African native Yan Venter will speak at Rock of Cape in Cape Girardeau at 7 p.m. today and at 10 a.m. Sunday. Venter and his wife, Bessie, along with their three children have traveled the world since they launched their international ministry in 1985. Child care will be provided during the event.

Fish fry, yard sale today at Baptist church

Second Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau will hold a fish fry, yard sale and car wash beginning at 7 a.m. today. Available for eat in or carryout, the fish fry will feature catfish, buffalo fish, spaghetti, hushpuppies, coleslaw and dessert. Among the items offered at the yard sale will be clothing, nursing books and electronic equipment. For those choosing a car wash, options will include a hand wash, vacuum and detail of the vehicle.

Applications available for lab sessions

Abbey Road Christian Church in Cape Girardeau is now accepting applications for the fall session of its computer lab. The weekly, one to one-and-a-half hour classes at Abbey Road Computer Lab meet from early October to mid-November. Classes include beginning keyboarding and using e-mail.
