VMY group to meet Sunday
The Vincentian Marian Youth will meet for a Youth Encounter at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Shrine Church in Perryville, Mo. The evening will consist of the annual outdoor Mass at the Grotto and annual freshmen welcome with pizza and a hayride. Vincentian Marian Youth events are geared for teens and young adults, but all ages are welcome to come. Bring chairs or blankets to sit on. A Vincentian Marian Youth pro-life event is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 20. Permission forms can be obtained from youth directors, the VMY website or Kathy Carron at 547-1395.
Homecoming services set
Little Whitewater Baptist Church invites everyone to homecoming and revival services Sept. 21 through 24. Cy Smith of Cape Girardeau will be guest speaker. Potluck dinner will be served at noon Sunday, and there will be special music. Services begin at 11 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
St. James marks 145 years
The St. James AME Church in Cape Girardeau will have its 145th anniversary and homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday. Special speaker will be pastor Colleen Gibson from Greer Chapel AME Church in Memphis, Tenn. They will be dedicating their marquee, burning the mortgage of the church parsonage and recognizing outstanding longtime members.
Ignition series continues
Christian Ignition meets at 9:15 a.m. Sundays at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville. This week's topic is "Who is Jesus and Why Should I Care?" Everyone is invited to attend and learn about basic Christian beliefs.
Word of Faith revival begins
The Word of Faith Fellowship will host a revival featuring evangelists Eddy and Sharon Disotell. Revival starts each night at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 to 19 at the church at Merriwether Street and Park Avenue in Cape Girardeau.
Awareness lunch set for Sept. 19
Church Women United will hold the annual Community Awareness Luncheon and Program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at Maple United Methodist Church, 2441 Jean Ann Drive in Cape Girardeau. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. The morning program includes presentations from the Conservation Campus Nature Center, Boys and Girls Club, CERT, Love Inc., Old Town Cape, Children's Museum and AARP.
