Jackson church to hold chili-stew supper
St. John's United Church of Christ in Jackson will hold a chili-stew supper at 4 p.m. today. The event is sponsored by the church's Ladies Fellowship.
First Presbyterian to host benefit supper
First Presbyterian Church of Cape Girardeau will host a handbell choir from St. Andrew Lutheran Church in St. Louis during its 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service and a dinner immediately following. The choir will perform to thank First Presbyterian for loaning handbells to the congregation while they were acquiring their own. The meal will benefit Cub Pack 15. There is a charge for the meal that will feature chicken and dumplings, ham, slaw, trimmings and dessert.
Cape General Baptist schedules fall festival
Cape General Baptist Church will hold its fall festival from 2 to 7 p.m. today. The free event will feature music, games, crafts, cake walk, bake sale and pumpkin patch. From 5 to 7 p.m., a child and soup supper will be served. While children 3 and under eat for free, there is a charge for the meal for all other ages.
Centenary Church offers Trunk-or-Treat
Centenary Church in Cape Girardeau will host a Trunk-or-Treat from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday. This event is an alternative to trick-or-treating.
Fruitland church to host Trunk-or-Treat
Wesley United Methodist Church of Fruitland will host a Trunk or Treat on Friday. The event will begin a 5 p.m. in the upper parking lot at the church. The event will feature decorated cars, van, and trucks where children can receive candy and treats from the back of the vehicles. The church will also hold a costume and pumpkin contest during the event. Attendees are invited to come dressed in festive, friendly costumes and bring carved or decorated pumpkins. Hot chocolate and coffee will be served inside the church fellowship during the evening.
Zion Lutheran hosts pork sausage supper
Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Mo., will host its annual pork sausage supper from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday. There is a charge, though children under 6 eat for free.
CrossRoads schedules Tractor Treat
CrossRoads Fellowship in Jackson will hold a Tractor Treat from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday. Billed as a trick-or-treat alternative, the event will feature costumes, hayrides, concession stand, photo booth, bonfire and booths with such games as basketball toss, treasure fishing and indoor mazes.
Sikeston church to host Oktoberfest dinner
Concordia Lutheran Church in Sikeston, Mo., will have an Oktoberfest dinner Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at its Family Life Center. The menu is smoked bratwurst, beef wieners, German potato salad, parsley potatoes, sauerkraut, slaw, green beans and desserts. There is a charge, though children 5 and under eat for free.
Gospel singing to feature Tennessee quartet
A gospel singing featuring the Joylanders Quartet from Tennessee will be held at Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau at 6 p.m. today.
Maple United Methodist to host fall festival
Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau will host a fall festival from 2 to 6 p.m. today. Activities include a bouncy house, face painting and games. An all-you-can-eat chili supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
Patty family to highlight Illinois rally and revival
Trinity Assembly of God in Olive Branch, Ill., will be holding a fall miracle rally and revival Thursday to Nov. 2. Service times are 7 p.m., with the exception of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 2. As part of the rally and revival festivities, the church will also be hosting a harvest party on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. for the children of the community with games, crafts, candy and prizes. The Nov. 1 and 2 services will include the music of Craig and Sandra Patty. Craig Patty is the brother of the Grammy award-winning gospel artist Sandi Patty.
Fruitland Community Church schedules fall festival
Fruitland Community Church will host a fall festival Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Planned activities include a space jump, games, food and candy. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No scary costumes should be worn.
Crump church announces homecoming
Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Crump will hold homecoming service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Mike Huffman will be the speaker, with a potluck lunch and music featuring the group Reflections afterward.
