Two Cape Girardeau women were named winners of the Community Lights contest sponsored by Ameren Missouri, according to a news release from the energy provider.

Brenda Bender, named among five grand prize winners, was awarded $2,500 for her volunteer service; in addition, $2,500 was awarded to the MS Foundation Gateway Area Chapter, her charity of choice.

Faune Riggin, one of five runners-up, received $1,250, and an additional $1,250 was given to her chosen charity, Special Olympics of Southeast Missouri.

AmerenMissouri awarded a total of $37,500 to winners and the associated organizations. Individuals were nominated via the company's Facebook page by friends, family and peers.
